Not only does our staff bring strong clinical and professional experiences to the ParentTrain, but most of them are also parents themselves. This means that they can relate to the concerns and issues facing parents on an every day basis!

Our Clinical Director, Dr. Maria Salvanto holds three graduate degrees in the field of psychology and has logged many hours counseling families and children of all ages and life experiences. Not only has she been an adjunct professor at Bloomfield College, teaching undergraduate courses in psychology, but she has worked in schools and   special education programs as well. With over 16 years of experience in the field of psychology, in which she has specialized in child and adolescent therapies, she has assisted many a family and child.

This desire to and appreciation of helping children and families led her to join forces with other like-minded professionals to create the ParentTrain.

Please also note that Dr. Salvanto, along with 3 of our senior clinicians, are all experts in adoption and foster care issues, certified by the Rutgers University School of Social Work's Continuing Education Department. They    can provide counseling and education around a variety of issues facing adoptive and foster families.
