Developmental Stages: (or what to expect at what age)

Before taking a look at the developmental stage for your child please keep in mind that all children progress at different rates in the different aspects of their development. For example, for some children it is completely normal to be on target for their age in social development but an age behind (or ahead) for their emotional developmental. In addition, a child may regress back to a previously mastered stage in response to some change in their life (birth of a new baby, divorce of parents, vacation, etc.) So remember these are guidelines more than they are concrete markers to measure your child's growth and you may want to take a look at the corresponding stages for a year before and after your child's actual age to get a better overall picture of their unique development. As always, any questions you may have about your child's development should be shared with his doctor, teacher, or other knowledgeable professional.
