Occupational Therapy Services at The Parent TRAIN

At The Parent TRAIN, our Occupational Therapy (OT) services help children develop the skills they need to participate successfully at home, in school, and in their community. We take a whole-child approach, addressing not only fine and gross motor development, but also sensory processing, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and daily living skills.

Fine Motor Skills

Our occupational therapists help children build the hand strength, coordination, and dexterity needed for everyday tasks, including:

  • Handwriting and pencil grasp

  • Scissor skills

  • Coloring and drawing

  • Buttoning, zipping, and dressing

  • Feeding and utensil use

  • Keyboarding and technology access

Gross Motor Development

We support the development of larger muscle groups that help children move confidently and safely through their environment, including:

  • Balance and coordination

  • Strength and endurance

  • Body awareness

  • Motor planning

  • Playground and sports participation

  • Postural control and core strength

Sensory Processing

Many children experience challenges with how their bodies process sensory information. Our therapists help children better understand and respond to sensory input from their environment, including:

  • Sensitivity to sounds, lights, textures, or movement

  • Difficulty with attention and focus

  • Sensory seeking behaviors

  • Challenges with transitions and routines

  • Self-regulation throughout the day

Through individualized sensory strategies, we help children feel more comfortable, organized, and successful in daily activities.

Emotional Regulation & Executive Functioning

Occupational therapy can also support the development of essential self-management skills, including:

  • Identifying and expressing emotions

  • Coping with frustration and anxiety

  • Developing self-calming strategies

  • Improving attention and task completion

  • Organization and planning skills

  • Flexible thinking and problem-solving

A Collaborative Approach

Our therapists work closely with families, schools, and other providers to ensure children receive consistent support across all environments. Every treatment plan is individualized to meet each child's unique strengths, challenges, and goals.

Whether your child needs support with handwriting, sensory regulation, emotional control, independence, or everyday functioning, our occupational therapists are here to help them build confidence and thrive.
