Child and adolescent psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in diagnosing and treating mental health, behavioral, and developmental disorders in children and teens. They are uniquely trained to understand how emotional, psychological, medical, developmental, and environmental factors interact during childhood and adolescence.

Similarly, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse who specializes in diagnosing and treating mental health conditions across the lifespan. PMHNPs are trained to assess emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric concerns, develop treatment plans, provide therapy, and prescribe and manage medications when appropriate.

 

At the Parent TRAIN, we have two experienced prescribers available: Dr. Malini Bhatia, who has over 30 years of experience, and Dr. Keilynn Alicea, a doctor of nursing who specializes in psychiatric mental health.
